श्रद्धात्रय विभाग योग (Sraddhatraya Vibhaga Yoga) – श्लोक 5
श्लोक ५-६ में अशास्त्रीय, दम्भपूर्ण तपस्या करने वालों का वर्णन है। Verses 5-6 describe those who practice severe but unscriptural austerities out of hypocrisy and ego.

अशास्त्रविहितं घोरं तप्यन्ते ये तपो जनाः। दम्भाहङ्कारसंयुक्ताः कामरागबलान्विताः॥५॥
aśāstra-vihitaṁ ghoraṁ tapyante ye tapo janāḥ | dambhāhaṅkāra-saṁyuktāḥ kāma-rāga-balānvitāḥ ||5||

अशास्त्रविहितम्: not prescribed by the scriptures; घोरम्: severe; तप्यन्ते: perform; ये: those who; तपः: austerity; जनाः: persons; दम्भाहङ्कारसंयुक्ताः: filled with hypocrisy and egoism; कामरागबलान्विताः: possessed by the force of desire and attachment.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जो लोग दम्भ और अहंकार से युक्त होकर, कामना, आसक्ति और बल (हठ) से प्रेरित होकर, शास्त्रों द्वारा अविहित घोर तप करते हैं,
English Translation
Those who practice severe austerities not enjoined by the scriptures, filled with hypocrisy and egoism, and impelled by the force of desire and attachment,
टीका / Commentary
यह श्लोक उन लोगों का वर्णन करता है जो शास्त्रीय मार्ग को छोड़कर अपनी इच्छाओं और अहंकार के वशीभूत होकर कठोर तपस्या करते हैं। ऐसी तपस्या अक्सर दूसरों को दिखाने या अपने बल के प्रदर्शन के लिए होती है। This verse describes those who perform severe austerities not sanctioned by scriptures, driven by hypocrisy, ego, desire, and attachment.
