yajante sāttvikā devān yakṣa-rakṣāṁsi rājasāḥ | pretān bhūta-gaṇāṁś cānye yajante tāmasā janāḥ ||4||

English Translation
The sattvic people worship the gods; the rajasic worship the yaksas and raksasas; the tamasic people worship the departed spirits and the hosts of bhutas.

यह श्लोक तीनों गुणों के अनुसार पूजा के विभिन्न रूपों को दर्शाता है। सात्त्विक लोग उच्च देवताओं की उपासना करते हैं, राजस लोग शक्ति और धन के प्रतीक यक्ष-राक्षसों की, और तामस लोग निम्न योनियों (प्रेत, भूत) की। This verse categorizes different forms of worship according to the three gunas, showing how the object of worship reflects the worshipper's inner quality.
