श्रद्धात्रय विभाग योग (Sraddhatraya Vibhaga Yoga) – श्लोक 20
श्लोक २०: बिना प्रत्युपकार की इच्छा के, उचित देश-काल-पात्र को दिया गया दान सात्त्विक है। Verse 20: Charity given as a duty, without expectation, at the right place and time, to a worthy person, is sattvic.
संस्कृत श्लोक
दातव्यमिति यद्दानं दीयतेऽनुपकारिणे। देशे काले च पात्रे च तद्दानं सात्त्विकं स्मृतम्॥२०॥
dātavyam iti yad dānaṁ dīyate ’nupakāriṇe | deśe kāle ca pātre ca tad dānaṁ sāttvikaṁ smṛtam ||20||

हिंदी अनुवाद
जो दान उपकार की आशा बिना, केवल "देना कर्तव्य है" ऐसे भाव से, उचित देश, काल और पात्र को दिया जाता है – वह दान सात्त्विक कहा गया है।
English Translation
That gift which is given to one who does nothing in return, with the feeling that it is one's duty to give, at the right place and time, and to a worthy person – that charity is considered sattvic.
टीका / Commentary
सात्त्विक दान वह है जो बिना किसी प्रत्युपकार की इच्छा के, केवल कर्तव्य समझकर, उचित स्थान, समय और पात्र (योग्य व्यक्ति) को दिया जाता है। Sattvic charity is given without any expectation of return, with a sense of duty, at the proper place and time, and to a worthy recipient.
