श्रद्धात्रय विभाग योग (Sraddhatraya Vibhaga Yoga) – श्लोक 21
श्लोक २१: प्रत्युपकार की इच्छा से, फल की आशा से, या अरुचि से दिया गया दान राजस है। Verse 21: Charity given with a desire for return, for reward, or reluctantly, is rajasic.
संस्कृत श्लोक
यत्तु प्रत्युपकारार्थं फलमुद्दिश्य वा पुनः। दीयते च परिक्लिष्टं तद्दानं राजसं स्मृतम्॥२१॥
yat tu pratyupakārārthaṁ phalam uddiśya vā punaḥ | dīyate ca parikliṣṭaṁ tad dānaṁ rājasaṁ smṛtam ||21||

यत्: which; तु: but; प्रत्युपकारार्थम्: for the sake of getting something in return; फलम्: fruit; उद्दिश्य: aiming at; वा: or; पुनः: again; दीयते: is given; च: and; परिक्लिष्टम्: grudgingly; तत्: that; दानम्: charity; राजसम्: rajasic; स्मृतम्: is considered.
हिंदी अनुवाद
परन्तु जो दान बदले की भावना से, या फल की इच्छा से, या कष्ट (अरुचि) के साथ दिया जाता है – वह दान राजस कहा गया है।
English Translation
But that gift which is given with a view to receive something in return, or looking for a reward, or which is given reluctantly – that charity is considered rajasic.
टीका / Commentary
राजस दान वह है जो प्रत्युपकार की आशा में, किसी फल की इच्छा से, या अरुचि एवं कष्ट के साथ दिया जाता है। Rajasic charity is given with the expectation of something in return, or for the sake of a reward, or with reluctance, and is impure in motive.
