कर्म योग (Karma Yoga) – श्लोक 42
श्लोक ४२ में इन्द्रिय, मन, बुद्धि और आत्मा की श्रेष्ठता क्रम से बताई गई है। Verse 42: The senses are superior to the body, the mind superior to the senses, the intellect superior to the mind, and beyond the intellect is the Self.
संस्कृत श्लोक
इन्द्रियाणि पराण्याहुरिन्द्रियेभ्यः परं मनः | मनसस्तु परा बुद्धिर्यो बुद्धेः परतस्तु सः ||४२||
indriyāṇi parāṇy āhur indriyebhyaḥ paraṃ manaḥ | manasas tu parā buddhir yo buddheḥ paratas tu saḥ ||42||
पदच्छेद / शब्दार्थ
इन्द्रियाणि: इन्द्रियाँ; पराणि: श्रेष्ठ (स्थूल से सूक्ष्म); आहु: कहते हैं; इन्द्रियेभ्य: इन्द्रियों से; परम्: श्रेष्ठ; मन: मन; मनस: मन से; तु: तो; परा: श्रेष्ठ; बुद्धि: बुद्धि; य: जो; बुद्धे: बुद्धि से; परत: परे; तु: तो; स: वह (आत्मा)।
हिंदी अनुवाद
इन्द्रियाँ (शरीर से) श्रेष्ठ कही जाती हैं, इन्द्रियों से मन श्रेष्ठ है, मन से बुद्धि श्रेष्ठ है, और जो बुद्धि से परे है – वह (आत्मा) है।
English Translation
The senses are said to be superior to the body, the mind is superior to the senses, the intellect is superior to the mind, and that which is superior to the intellect is He (the Self).
टीका / Commentary
भगवान अब तत्त्वों की श्रेणी बताते हैं – स्थूल से सूक्ष्म की ओर बढ़ते हुए। इन्द्रियाँ, मन, बुद्धि और उससे परे आत्मा। यह जानकर कि आत्मा इन सबसे परे है, साधक को काम पर विजय पानी चाहिए। The Lord now gives a hierarchy from gross to subtle – senses, mind, intellect, and beyond them the Self. Knowing that the Self is beyond all, the seeker should conquer desire.
