श्लोक ३९ में काम को ज्ञानी का नित्य शत्रु बताया गया है। Verse 39: Desire, the eternal enemy of the wise, covers knowledge.

आवृतं ज्ञानमेतेन ज्ञानिनो नित्यवैरिणा | कामरूपेण कौन्तेय दुष्पूरेणानलेन च ||३९||
āvṛtaṃ jñānam etena jñānino nityavairiṇā | kāmarūpeṇa kaunteya duṣpūreṇānalena ca ||39||

English Translation
O son of Kunti, the eternal enemy of the wise, in the form of desire, which is never satisfied and burns like fire, covers knowledge.
टीका / Commentary
काम को और स्पष्ट किया गया – यह ज्ञानी का भी नित्य शत्रु है, कभी तृप्त न होने वाला और अग्नि की तरह दहकता हुआ। Desire is further described – it is the eternal enemy of the wise, insatiable, and burning like fire.
