कर्म योग (Karma Yoga) – श्लोक 17
श्लोक १७ में बताया गया है कि जो आत्मा में ही संतुष्ट है, उसका कोई कर्तव्य नहीं। Verse 17: One who is satisfied in the Self has no duty.
संस्कृत श्लोक
यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यादात्मतृप्तश्च मानवः | आत्मन्येव च सन्तुष्टस्तस्य कार्यं न विद्यते ||१७||
yas tv ātmaratir eva syād ātmatṛptaś ca mānavaḥ | ātmany eva ca santuṣṭas tasya kāryaṃ na vidyate ||17||
पदच्छेद / शब्दार्थ
य: जो; तु: लेकिन; आत्मरति: आत्मा में रति रखने वाला; एव: ही; स्यात्: हो; आत्मतृप्त: आत्मा में तृप्त; च: और; मानव: मनुष्य; आत्मनि: अपने आप में; एव: ही; च: और; सन्तुष्ट: संतुष्ट; तस्य: उसके; कार्यम्: कर्तव्य (विहित कर्म); न: नहीं; विद्यते: है।
हिंदी अनुवाद
परन्तु जो मनुष्य केवल आत्मा में ही रति रखता है, आत्मा में ही तृप्त है और आत्मा में ही संतुष्ट है, उसके लिए कोई कर्तव्य (विहित कर्म) नहीं रह जाता।
English Translation
But the man who rejoices only in the Self, who is satisfied with the Self, who is content in the Self alone – for him there is no duty (nothing to be done).
टीका / Commentary
यहाँ भगवान उन सिद्ध पुरुषों की बात करते हैं जो पूर्ण रूप से आत्म-संतुष्ट हैं। ऐसे ज्ञानी को कर्म करने की कोई बाध्यता नहीं, क्योंकि वह कर्मफल पर निर्भर नहीं। फिर भी, वे लोकसंग्रह के लिए कर्म करते हैं, जैसा आगे बताया जाएगा। Here the Lord speaks of the perfected souls who are completely self-satisfied. Such a wise person has no obligatory duties because they are not dependent on the fruits of action. Yet, they still act for the welfare of the world, as will be explained.
